Stillman started out as a concept documentary about the music scene in Amsterdam in the fall of 2010. Something I thought was a great idea. I, however, realized rather quickly that it would be a by far too big subject to capture in one film. The idea of a film transformed into an ongoing episode-based show.

Now I was facing the challenge of how I can release a show on a zero-budget in a way and context that righteously represents what I do and credit the right bands and people.

With that in mind and after talking to several bands asking the question: "Many people say that in Amsterdam there is no music scene, yet somehow I end up filming 3-4 bands per week. What is the problem?" With the answer something similar to: "Well, the music is there, just not the scene." I came up with the idea of this website.

I naturally wanted to make the website and my show an as cool experience as possible and after some questionable research I started sketching up the base of what is Stillman.nl.

In the end of January I sat down and hacked and pecked like a motherfucker. Loosing all contact to the outside world for a month and a half. But after a lot of beer, sweat and tears I was done.

The project is now something bigger and something I'm very proud of. I hope you all like it!
