Knalpot: Dutch experimental in the heat of a dub-set

Where do you place a band that is considered too experimental for the pop world and too poppy for the experimental world? A hard question. Yet, Knalpot has become one of the most important underground bands in Amsterdam, let’s say in Holland!

How two guys can make a sound that is so overwhelming still surprises us. Last week the experimental Knalpot duo released their third album “Yes please“, which is released on Eat Concrete Records. We celebrate their new release with a video from one of their dub-set songs “Professional Grin”, featuring producer Carlos Dalla-Fiore

A couple of years back, after a show organised by Corrie van Binsbergen at Club100, we got our hands on their EP “Serious Outtakes“. We were immediately sold! With electro, dub, post-rock, and jazz as main pillars, Knalpot’s sound remains an utterly hybrid mix of many genres. When we were asked to record them in the experimental-music-Mecca STEIM in Amsterdam, we said yes without hesitation. This resulted in an intense live video, but nonetheless Knalpot is something you have to experience first-hand! Luckily you can. Their album release party will be on the 27th of june at Paradiso Amsterdam. Let’s discover the Dutch underground and buy your tickets here!
